Building Repair Maintenance Technician

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 per year
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Location/s: Cardiff/ Bridgend area

Role Purpose
Building Repair Maintenance Technicians are responsible for the removal and safe disposal of cavity waste materials, along with general building/remediation skills such as:
  • Cavity clearance
  • Bricklaying
  • Plastering
  • Decoration
  • Carpentry skills
Key Accountabilities
  • To carry out routine cavity clearance works and remediation with customer satisfaction in mind. Clear and concise work details, procedures discussed and agreed prior to commencement
  • Communicate with the homeowner throughout the process
  • Communicate with the Remediation Supervisor and Head of Technical Development to confirm works
  • Adhere to good health and safety practice
  • Provide a summary of works in progress
  • Work as part of The IAA team to develop a high quality and efficient service 
Administration:
  • Carry out planning with the Supervisor, where necessary, and maintain an effective schedule of planned works
  • Comply with The IAAs Best Practice Guides
  • Complete the scope of remediation against the customer journey as tasked and document remediation works 
Improvements and Change:
  • Follow all procedures and processes relevant to own role. Identify when changes and updates are applicable, raising these promptly with line manager
  • When required, lead and take responsibility for projects and making change happen, overcome barriers and ensure objectives are achieved
  • Develop and write work instructions and procedure when required, monitoring work and proposing improvement measures where appropriate 
Communication/Relationships:
  • Communicate and work closely with managers and colleagues, building a team which supports each other’s and the organisations goals
  • Act as mentor and trainer to colleagues when required and make suggestions to develop products and customer service
  • Keep up to date with new development and changes in the company
  • Support company goals and business objectives 
Knowledge, Skills and Experience (Desired):
General building skills:
  • Bricklayer/plasterer/carpentry/decoration
Excellent communications and presentation skills:
  • Possess good interpersonal skills
  • Have good attention to detail
  • Demonstrate reasonable IT skills
  • Possess the ability to work unsupervised
  • Familiarity with health & safety requirements
  • Clean driving license

Retrofit Assessor & Coordinator

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £38,000 per year (with additional car allowance)
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Location/s: Field Based
COVID-19 precaution: Remote interview process
 
Qualifications:
  • Level 5 Diploma in Domestic Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management
  • DEA qualified - Experience in Domestic Energy Efficiency 
Responsibilities:
  • Delivering a PAS 2035 Compliant Assessor and RC Coordinator Service
  • Completing compliance checks of project documentation and evidence for PAS 2035 projects
  • Liaising with installation teams and clients as necessary 
Experience:
  • Experience of working in, or understanding of, the ECO/GHGVS sectors
  • Knowledge and understanding of PAS 2030/ PAS 2035
  • Construction industry experience such as working as a Contractor, Surveyor, Site Manager/ Agent or Clerk of Works etc
  • A good understanding of the principles of Building Physics as relating to the fabric of existing buildings and the potential consequences of retrofit energy efficiency measures.
  • A good understanding of a range of building services systems - particularly heating, insulation and ventilation systems
  • Experience in carrying out retrofit works in a domestic setting and experience of working with domestic refurbishment clients
  • Ability to review, analyse and benchmark energy performance and identify potential technical solutions
  • Previous quality assurance or compliance background
  • Awareness of commissioning in mechanical and electrical systems (ventilation and heat)
  • Good awareness of Health and Safety on-site and be willing and able to raise concerns where appropriate
  • Experience of on-site monitoring tools and their appropriate use, e.g.- Thermal imaging
    • Air pressure tests
    • Moisture meters
    • Flow and pressure meters for ventilation systems
  • Knowledge of project risk management in construction in relation to control of time of directly related and consequential damages

Skills/Attributes:
  • An eye for detail and be analytical in approach, whilst being able to make commercial decisions

  • Good understanding and capability with MSOffice office suite ideally with knowledge of industry software
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with key clients and senior management, householders, contractors, planners, architects, engineers, building control officers etc

MCS Senior Quality & Compliance Inspector


Job type: Full time, permanent
Salary: £38,000 per year rising to £40,000 following a successful probation period
Location: Field Based
Reports to: Head of Certification and Audit and Compliance Lead
 
Role Purpose
The MCS Senior Quality and Compliance Inspector is responsible for carrying out surveillance and assessment of Contractors for a Microgeneration Certification Scheme.
 
The initial focus is Air Source Heat Pumps with further extensions to the MCS scope to follow including Solar Thermal and PV. Detailed knowledge of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme Standards and Guidance is required but further training will be provided to the successful applicant who can demonstrate they meet the threshold competence through holding a recognised Vocational Qualification.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Assist Head of Customer Operations and Head of Certification in resolving complaints following investigation and reports
  • Operate in a manner that is consistent with good Health and Safety practice and does not present hazards to others
  • Oversight, Assessment and audit of Installer activities
  • Carry out quality inspection to comply with the required Microgeneration Certification Scheme and Competent Persons Scheme surveillance rates 
Administration:
  • Carry out effective Audit and surveillance of installers in accordance with department specified process
  • Confirm compliance with suitability assessment/installations/ post installation quality inspections
  • Complete customer compliant investigation reports against the customer journey as tasked

  • In depth knowledge of the Microgeneration industry, technical requirements, and standards, including knowledge of allied insulation systems, installation components and techniques.
  • Demonstrate Competent in line with current MTC-Minimum Technical Competence Requirements
  • Familiarity with Health & Safety issues
  • Familiarity with ISO 17065 and MCS Requirements.
  • Relevant MCS Qualifications:
    • N/SVQ Level 3 in the Installation and Maintenance of Air Source Heat Pumps
  • CSCS card
  • Hold or be working towards internal audit qualification
  • Clean driving license

ISA Desktop Assessor

Job type: Full time, permanent
Location: Leighton Buzzard (head office)
Reports to: ISA Supervisor 

Role Purpose
Independently check desktop appraisal of assessors pre installation survey judgements, identify concerns and ensure remediation before install, ensuring only appropriate buildings are approved to proceed to installation of insulation.
 
Key Accountabilities
CIGAISA Assessor
  • Carry out ongoing desktop assessment of installer/assessor submitted pre-installation survey information, forming clear judgment on appropriateness to fill
  • Ensure CIGA ISA audits are timely and meet requirements under CIGA KPIs
  • Assist in the tasking of deployed inspector resources to carry out percentage physical inspections (1 in 10) and review of ISA referrals
  • Work with the Quality and Training Manager to carry out investigations into potential noncompliance with CIGA rules of membership
Administration:
  • Help to develop the CIGA ISA desktop audit team.
  • Take ownership of own personal development in line with changes to building certification/regulations
  • Operate in a manner that is consistent with good Health and Safety practice and does not present hazards to others
  • Maintain awareness of relevant H&S and other Regulations
  • Actively work to improve performance and quality
  • Other duties that may be allocated from your line manager from time to time
Card Scheme:
  • To review applications for compliance to scheme rules
  • To provide customer support dealing with enquires and queries via email and telephone
  • To provide support to Card and Business Support Services Manager
