Too often Installers have suffered from the reputation of those lesser organisations who have served to profit from the industry whilst seeking lowest cost and lowest compliance options for delivery.
The Insulation Assurance Authority (The IAA) is the industry body that provides their Members with:
- A Quality Assurance Framework covering Consumer Protection
- Technical Guidance
- Competent Persons Scheme
- Installer surveillance and monitoring
- Training and carding
- Member company support under a single compliance platform
For our Members it will provide the unique association with an organisation that is leading the way in delivering a sustainable and professional insulation industry.
The IAA give homeowners, key stakeholders and funders the confidence that insulation work is carried out to a high standard and subject to a level of rigor and surveillance which helps ensure it is done ‘Right First Time’.
What can you expect as an IAA member?
Certification, Surveillance (ISA) and Quality Assurance - The IAA provides pre-independent surveillance of assessment services for:
- Cavity Wall Insulation (CWI)
- Internal Wall Insulation (IWI)
- External Wall Insulation (EWI)
- New Build (CWI)
- Room in Roof Insulation
- Underfloor Insulation
- Loft Insulation
- Park Homes (Certification and Quality Assurance)
This is for both Retrofit and New Build in domestic and commercial buildings. When you upload your pre-assessment surveillance details you start the online journey of compliance ending with an appropriate guarantee.
Throughout your portal you will be able to evidence compliance and development plans to assist in further business improvements whilst providing valuable information for stakeholders and funders on your performance and certification.
Training, carding and competency - The IAA will provide Members with access to a range of training that is specific to industry, changing legislation and recognised by an insulation industry competency card. This will detail Installers qualifications, system specific training and compliance with legislative and safety requirements. A training offer will be provided which includes blended delivery models via classroom and e-learning.
Resources – Utilising CIGAs 25 years of industry knowledge and access to key technical resources, The IAA will continue to develop a range of technical guides and installation manuals to assist you with installation, assessment, safety compliance and design across the range of insulation measures.
Working as the industry technical and assurance body on your behalf, The IAA will quickly become the go to organisation helping to set the standard and importantly ensure it reflects the opportunities and limitations within the workforce as a whole. By working together, we will aim to reduce the bureaucracy and provide a compelling evidence base from which to establish future compliance requirements and standards.
Only Members of The IAA who adopt the full compliance framework will be able to associate with the brand giving Members a unique selling point and market opportunity and importantly ensuring you have the resources you need to get the job done ‘Right First Time’.
Your industry voice – CIGA has always been proactive in supporting industry whether it be through industry or Government working groups, to ensure that the industry voice is heard. In addition to producing outcomes that are realistic for Members and the wider industry, as well as responding to press in times when industry support is needed as well as debunking misinformed messages to Government.
The IAA will build on this and support Members across the insulation industry as a whole presenting the positive benefits of insulation through assured installation by the very best in class, leaving others to make their own assumptions about those not covered under what will become a strong brand for the industry.
Design Service – The IAA will be providing a Design Service to address whole house design by ensuring we target specific energy measures needed for individual properties through a 3-point principle – Recognise, Evaluate and Improve.
It will provide Retrofit Coordination and Design Services access to certification for individuals as well as companies.
Consumer support and protection – Consumer protection ensures quality installations are carried out and providing assurance through appropriate guarantees as well as effective methods of complaint handling and dispute resolution. Building on CIGAs TrustMark scheme provider status and effective complaint handling processes, Members will be in a strong position to evidence their commitment to outstanding customer service and support. Homeowner advice and guidance packs already exist for several measures and these will be enhanced with further information across all insulation measures soon.
CWISC – Members of The IAA who install Cavity Wall Insulation will also benefit from membership of the Cavity Wall Insulation Surveillance Scheme and getting guarantee applications recorded with building control on their behalf in England and Wales.
Cost – For existing CIGA Members guarantees and services will continue to be provided at the same cost, subject to any normal and inflationary cost increases.
The IAA is committed to building on the current first-class Installers who already use CIGAs extensive service offering and provide these services across the insulation industry as a whole. As a Member of The IAA you will have access to a key number of features and interrelated services meaning that you only need one point of contact to install and guarantee your insulation measure.
Net Zero 2050
The Government have declared a climate crisis and are committed to net zero carbon emissions by 2050 – domestic dwellings account for 17-19% of carbon emissions, only by tackling the energy efficiency of building fabric as a part of deep retrofit will we deliver Net Zero 2050.
